Spray polyurethane foam roofing is a different animal from cavity insulation: it is applied on top of a flat or low-slope roof deck as a seamless, monolithic layer, then coated. For the right commercial building it does three jobs at once - insulates, air- and water-seals, and adds slope to drain ponding water.
Where SPF roofing fits
- Flat and low-slope commercial and industrial roofs.
- Roof recover - SPF can often go over an existing roof, avoiding a full tear-off.
- Buildings where a seamless membrane (no seams to fail) is worth the premium.
Why seamless matters in Alberta
Most roof leaks start at seams and penetrations. A sprayed roof has none - it self-flashes around every curb and pipe - and the closed-cell foam adds R-value the old roof never had. The coating carries the UV and weather protection and is renewable over time.
