The common failure modes

  • Off-ratio mixing - the two parts must meter exactly; wrong ratios leave foam that never cures right and keeps emitting.
  • Wrong temperature - substrate or chemical too cold (a real Alberta risk) ruins the reaction and adhesion.
  • Too thick per pass - overheats and cures poorly; closed-cell must go on in controlled lifts.
  • Poor prep - dust, moisture or frost on the substrate kills adhesion, causing pull-away.

How to hire so it doesn't happen

  • Use a CUFCA-certified installer working to CAN/ULC-S705 - the certification exists precisely to prevent these errors.
  • Ask about substrate temperature and lift thickness; a pro has a clear answer.
