Post-frame - the pole barn - is Alberta's go-to for affordable large buildings, but its metal cladding over a wood frame condenses and leaks heat like any steel envelope. Closed-cell spray foam is the standard way to make a pole barn dry, heatable and durable.
What post-frame needs
- Seal the cladding: closed-cell sprayed to the inside of the metal stops the condensation that otherwise drips down the walls and rusts fasteners.
- Make it heatable: the air-seal and R-value let a pole barn hold heat for a shop, storage or livestock use.
- Add rigidity: foam bonds the cladding and frame into a stiffer assembly.
Why foam over batt here
Post-frame cavities are deep and irregular and the metal is the condensing surface - foam's ability to seal directly to that surface is what batt cannot do. Get a free quote. See the ag hub.
