A Quonset is a cheap, tough, almost-impossible-to-insulate building. Its continuous curved steel arch has no flat cavities for batt and no easy way to fasten rigid board - which is exactly why spray foam is the natural answer: it is the only insulation that conforms to the curve in one seamless layer.
Why foam is the Quonset solution
- It fits the shape. Closed-cell sprays directly to the inside of the arch and follows every curve - no framing, no gaps.
- It stops the sweat. A bare Quonset condenses heavily; closed-cell's vapour control ends the dripping that rusts the shell and ruins stored contents.
- It stiffens the shell. The rigid foam layer adds structure to the thin steel.
