You cannot fix a heat leak you cannot see - and most of them are invisible until it is minus twenty and you feel the draft. A thermal imaging inspection makes them visible: an infrared camera reads surface temperatures and shows exactly where a building is losing heat, before you spend a dollar on insulation.
What a scan reveals
- Cold spots at rim joists, top plates, headers and around windows and doors.
- Missing, settled or gapped insulation inside walls and ceilings you cannot open.
- Air leakage paths and, sometimes, moisture problems behind finishes.
Why it makes spray foam smarter
An infrared scan turns guesswork into a targeted plan: it shows which assemblies actually leak, so foam goes where the return is highest instead of everywhere by default. For a larger home or a commercial building, that focus can pay for the scan many times over.
