Strathmore is where the serviced part of the corridor stops. East of Strathmore the towns get smaller and further apart, which means the buildings in this one are working for a catchment many times the size of the town itself, and that shapes the commercial side of this work more than anything about the weather does.
A town whose buildings serve a much larger area
The shops, yards and service buildings here are sized and used for a trade area that runs a long way east, not for 14,000 people. They open early and close late because somebody is driving in from an hour away, and a good share of the commercial stock is service and repair rather than retail. That matters to an envelope because these buildings are occupied across a much longer day than a comparable building in a town of the same population, and the cost of them being uncomfortable is higher.
About 27% of the housing predates 1991
That figure makes this one of the younger stocks on this site, and it sets a short and predictable list for most houses. The framing, the cavity insulation and the membrane are what the drawings of their decade say they are, the numbers were met, and the joints between components were never treated as a system. So the work here is junctions rather than deficits: the rim joist, the ceiling plane at its penetrations, and whatever shares a surface with an attached garage.
Nothing upwind of any of it
The lots here are open. That does not change what a building is, it changes how hard every gap in it is worked. Air is pushed through openings rather than seeping through them, one elevation takes considerably more than the other three, and loose insulation at the edge of an attic gets moved around rather than sitting where it was placed. Every item on the list above is worth more here for that reason, and the windward side of a building is where the money goes first.
What we will tell you not to buy
Two things get sold in this town and neither is honest on this stock. Adding depth to an attic that already carries its specified number, over a ceiling plane full of unsealed penetrations, does very little. And drilling a wall to inject into a cavity that already contains batt fills nothing, seals nothing, and leaves holes to make good. The same money at the rim joist and the junctions produces something a household can feel.

Spray Foam Insulation Strathmore: Common Questions
Is there anything worth insulating in a house that is not old? Usually yes, and it is the junctions rather than the insulation. It is a short list.
Why is one side of the house colder than the rest? That is the windward elevation, and treating that one side is normally the right scope.
Should we top up the attic? Rarely. On a Strathmore ceiling already at its number, sealing and the eave do far more.
No price without seeing the building. Get a quote - and tell us which side of the house the complaint is on, because here that usually answers half the question.
